Gwen has been involved with art all her life, and seriously began to study painting in 1983. She learned how to truly 'see' color by painting in oils, outside 'en plein air'. Soon after discovering watercolors they became her favorite medium."I paint what I love - flowers, animals, butterflies, children, sun splashed landscapes with Eucalyptus trees, and still life. I love to use exuberant color and have a non-technical, intuitive approach to art and life. To begin painting the subject or idea must be exciting and emotionally persuasive." She has shown at The Esther Wells Collection in Laguna Beach, belongs to and shows with The Pasadena Society of Artists and Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre. Also has shown with The National Watercolor Society and Women Painters West. Studied watercolor with Robert Wood, Bob Uecker, Watson Cross - oils with Dan McCaw, Bill Perkins and Dan Pinkham. Aside from teachers and other students, Gwen has been greatly influenced by Joaquin Sorolla, Claude Monet and the watercolors of John Singer Sargent.

Her versatile style is contemporary and sophisticated with a whimsical dash. Works from beginning design phase to finished art, is good at handling images together with type, and can produce integrated projects from layout through to finish. Extensive experience working on staff, and now free lance throughout the Los Angeles area and Internationally. "My goal is always to create an easily understood message." Professional artist for over 25 years. Has excellent board and computer skills. Educated at Art Center College of Design, Otis Art Institute, and Pasadena City College. Other interests are photography, gardening, sailing and crafts - currently including knitting, frequently working from her own designs and patterns.
